As New Jersey awaits the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on a case concerning whether it can allow sports betting within its borders, an Atlantic City casino is launching daily fantasy sports contests for money. The Resorts Casino Hotel will offer a competition whereby customers win cash if they choose a group of players who statistically beat the lineup that is assigned to the casino. It is a new form of daily fantasy sports play that, if successful, could become widely adopted by other casinos desperately seeking new ways to draw a younger demographic. The opportunity to participate in the daily fantasy sports contests will first be only offered online, which is a focal point for casinos in New Jersey constantly looking for creative ways to increase their revenues.
