The first legal sports wager at an Atlantic City casino will be placed at 11 a.m. at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa on Thursday morning, and the opening day’s special guest has been confirmed. Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius “Dr. J” Erving will be placing the first bet at the casino.
The Borgata’s Race and Sports Book room was ready for bets early Thursday morning. Borgata President Marcus Glover says he feels like William Wallace in “Braveheart” by leading the charge on sports betting in Atlantic City. Glover also said Borgata’s plans to offer sports betting began last October. “We’re a fully integrated resort now,” he said.
