Atlantic City casinos ‘bet on a vet’

Since leaving the U.S. Marine Corps in 1984, Rod Olsen has worked several different jobs, ranging from car sales to his current gig as a part-timer in a local liquor store. But Olsen said a job working security at the former Trump Marina in the 1990s was something he really enjoyed.

So, when the 59-year-old from Mays Landing got an email from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs about a casino job fair, he knew it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. Walking out of the “Bet on a Vet” job fair, hosted by the Casino Control Commission in partnership with the American Legion, the Marine felt confident about his decision.

“I got an interview Saturday and I’m sure I’ll be hired,” he said. His interview is for a security position with Caesars Entertainment Corporation, which operates three casinos in Atlantic City.
