Several tourism indicators from the second quarter of 2018 produced evidence of positive long-term trends for the resort, according to industry experts. A report from the Lloyd. D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism at Stockton University showed that Atlantic County lodging fees and casino parking fees continued a long-term positive trend of growth following the casino closings of 2014.
Rummy Pandit, executive director of LIGHT, noted that while 12-month trailing totals for both tourism indicators declined in response to the closings and briefly declined or plateaued in response to the closure of the Trump Taj Mahal in 2016, they have since shown “slow and steady growth” year over year. “Growth in the June 2018 lodging fees (6 percent) and parking fee (2 percent), compared to June 2017, is further evidence of this long term trend,” Pandit said.
