Atlantic City, NJ – This Friday, March 6, Atlantic City casinos are lighting up red in recognition of Red Cross Month, honoring the organization’s humanitarian mission and the volunteers who serve communities in times of crisis.
The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) announced that seven properties – Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino, Borgata Hotel & Casino, Caesars Atlantic City, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Ocean Casino Resort, Resorts Casino Hotel, and Tropicana Atlantic City – will illuminate their exteriors in red to show their support.
“The Red Cross is an integral part of the Atlantic City community, and the casinos are proud to recognize the lifesaving work they do every day,” said Mark Giannantonio, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey. “By lighting up red, we are sending a strong message of support for the organization and the dedicated volunteers who step up wherever and whenever disaster strikes.”
March was first proclaimed Red Cross Month in 1943 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to raise awareness about the organization and its humanitarian mission. March is designated as Red Cross Month to recognize how the American Red Cross helps people across the country and around the world through its workforce powered by more than 90 percent volunteers.
“Red Cross Month is more than a moment of recognition — it’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we come together to care for one another,” said Kim Goetz, executive director, American Red Cross New Jersey Region. “Here in New Jersey, ordinary people make an extraordinary difference every day — whether they’re rolling up their sleeves to give blood, opening their hearts to make a generous donation, or giving their time to support neighbors in need. We appreciate the casinos joining in the Red Cross Month celebration and supporting our work in the community.”
In addition to Atlantic City casinos, several New Jersey locations and landmarks will be illuminated red to recognize Red Cross Month including the Battleship New Jersey, the New Jersey State House dome, American Dream and the Dream Wheel in East Rutherford, American Water’s corporate headquarters in Camden, and NJM Insurance Group locations throughout the state.
