Casino Association Of New Jersey Previews Big Game in Atlantic City

The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) announced that Atlantic City’s casinos are ready to celebrate the first Big Game since the legalization of sports wagering in New Jersey. As February 3 approaches, it will be an exciting, action-packed weekend throughout Atlantic City filled with parties and events where fans can watch the New England Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams.

“Atlantic City’s casinos welcome all fans to enjoy the biggest sporting event of the year and place their bets on the Big Game in New Jersey,” said Kevin Ortzman, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey. “Atlantic City is the perfect place for football fans to watch the Big Game and enjoy all that this seaside resort destination has to offer, including our world-class entertainment, top-notch restaurants, and brand-name retail shopping. It’s going to be an exciting time in America’s Playground, and our sports books are ready.”

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Resorts Casino Hotel, Tropicana Atlantic City and Wild Wild West at Bally’s all offer sports wagering in New Jersey, and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City just went live with online and retail sports betting this week.

“Sporting events like Super Bowl LIII are a great opportunity to draw visitors to the Atlantic City region in the colder months,” said Rummy Pandit, executive director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality & Tourism at Stockton University. “Atlantic City’s sports books are building a solid base of loyal consumers who now have another great reason to visit Atlantic City all year round.”

The legalization of sports gambling has had a significant impact on Atlantic City. Patrons wagered $1.24 billion in New Jersey on sports betting in 2018, with Atlantic City casinos seeing over $50 million in revenue from sports bets, according to the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE). Online gaming revenue also climbed to nearly $300 million in 2018, up 21.6 percent from 2017.
