Casino Association of New Jersey Applauds Supreme Court Decision to Allow for Legalization of Sports Betting in New Jersey

Atlantic City – The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) applauds the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to allow for the legalization of sports betting in New Jersey.  Regulated sports wagering will provide an economic boost for Atlantic City, Atlantic County and the entire state of New Jersey, generating meaningful tax revenue while supporting local jobs and businesses. Sports wagering will add another significant amenity to our destination resorts and attract more visitors to our city and its world-class entertainment, first-rate restaurants and brand-name retail shopping.

Atlantic City remains focused on diversifying its destination offerings, transforming from a predominantly gaming location to a diverse beachfront destination, where gambling is just one of the many activities bringing visitors to this great city each day.  The addition of sports betting will further support the region’s tourism economy, ensuring it remains vibrant, as the industry continues to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in redevelopment projects and non-gaming amenities throughout the city to appeal to a broader range of visitors and maintain and expand its offerings as a first-class resort and business conference destination.
