Atlantic City Replacing 5,600 Street Lights With LED Bulbs

Atlantic City will shine some new light on its streets. The gambling resort will replace more than 5,600 street lights with energy efficient LED bulbs that are designed to save money on electrical costs. The $750,000 cost will be paid for as part of a $2 million grant from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. Work is due to start in late November. A second phase of the project will change nearly 3,300 additional lights to LED technology. The city previously installed LED lighting along its Boardwalk. It currently spends about $2 million a year on street lighting, and expects to save an undetermined amount with the new equipment.
