Atlantic City, NJ – To commemorate World Parkinson’s Day on April 11, Atlantic City casinos will be illuminated in blue to support #SparktheNight, a global initiative to raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease (PD). The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) is proud to announce that seven of its casinos – Bally’s Atlantic City, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Caesars Atlantic City, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City, Ocean Casino Resort, Resorts Casino Hotel and Tropicana Atlantic City – will participate in this united effort.
“Atlantic City casinos are honored to commemorate World Parkinson’s Day by shining a light on how this disease impacts our community and loved ones,” said Mark Giannantonio, president, Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ). “This is an opportunity for all of us to come together to raise awareness, show support for those living with Parkinson’s and find a cure. Atlantic City casinos stand in solidarity with Parkinson’s patients in Atlantic City and across the globe”
#SparktheNight is a worldwide campaign that aims to light up buildings, bridges and landmarks across the globe, signifying the need for a guiding light in the face of PD and the ongoing need for support and research. This year’s campaign aims to illuminate 11.8 million lights in honor of the 11.8 million people currently living with Parkinson’s worldwide.
World Parkinson’s Day falls on April 11 to commemorate the birthday of James Parkinson, a surgeon and the first to recognize PD as a medical condition. Since then, the day has served as an annual push for PD awareness.
