“The Fourth of July is always better in Atlantic City, where visitors can experience all of the diverse activities the resort and business conference destination has to offer,” said Jim Wood, President & CEO of Meet AC. “2018 was one of the best years in terms of tourism, employment, conferences, conventions and hotel bookings – and we’re excited to build upon that momentum this summer.”

Over the last year, Atlantic City has seen strong gains in tourism and gaming revenue with the implementation of legalized sports wagering. For the first time ever, New Jersey sportsbooks beat Nevada in the month of May.  New Jersey sportsbooks took in $318.9 million in wagers in May, $1.5 million more than the $317.4 million in wagers the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported. Further, the resort destination saw 12 straight months of revenue gains, and the 2018 Economic Impact of Tourism in New Jersey showed Atlantic City contributing to a 7.4 percent spike in New Jersey’s tourism last year. Industry experts believe Atlantic City’s growth will translate into increases in, jobs and tourism throughout the summer months.

The casino industry continues to work to solidify the seaside resort’s comeback by diversifying Atlantic City’s offerings, as well as investing hundreds of millions of dollars in redevelopment projects and non-gaming services to attract new visitors. The industry’s efforts have advanced the revitalization of Atlantic City, transforming the city into a business conference destination and first-class resort that features great restaurants, entertainment and shopping.
