AC casinos gear up for NFL’s 2nd season since legalization of sports betting

The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) is kicking off the 2019 National Football League season, marking the second football season since the legalization of sports wagering in the state. As the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field Thursday night, casinos in Atlantic City are ready to offer guests a jam-packed schedule of games and events. Most of the casinos – Bally’s, Borgata, Caesars, Golden Nugget, Hard Rock Hotel, Ocean Casino, Resorts and Tropicana – are marketing NFL-themed events with cash prizes music and more. According to a new survey from the American Gaming Association, conducted by Morning Consult, 15 percent of the adult U.S. population – 38 million people – plan to bet on NFL games this season. Once again, New Jersey sportsbooks topped Nevada this July, taking in $251 million in wagers compared to Nevada sportsbooks which took in about $235 million. This is the second time ever in U.S. history that a state other than Nevada led the nation in total sports wagering handle.
